Let Them Eat Cake!

This has been one crazy weekend, but so much fun!!! I got to create these two cakes for some friends of mine. The top one is for Lainie's daughters baptism, which is tomorrow so if she checks my blog before then she will get a sneak preview. The second one was for a co-worker's daughters christening. She is an adorable baby. Lainie's cake is white cake with cookies-n-cream buttercream frosting. Alyson's cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. Lainie's cake didn't take as long as I thought, so that was nice. But oh man, did that tiered cake kick my bootie! Thank heavens Theo was here this weekend. We thought he was going to be deployed last Wednesday, but they changed the plans to tomorrow. So I had his help with the kids so I wasn't pulling my hair out (too much). I can hardly wait for the baptism tomorrow so we can rip into that cookies-n-cream cake!!

Great job on the cakes. They look so pretty. I think it is alwyas harder looking at first till you start doing it and then you realize how easy or at least easier it turned out to be. I LOVE making cakes. They are a great way to be creative. Did every one love the taste too?

I heard that everyone loved the cakes. I was really happy with the purple and pink one and the cookies-n-cream filling. I think they can be easy, they are just time consuming. The pink one took me 11 hours total! That's the baking, mixing my own icing, coloring it, bagging it and then finally piping it on the cake. I really enjoy it, and if I had an industrial size kitchen it might go faster, but I had to bake the layers one at a time. Then I had to make 7 batches of icing just for that one cake! The finished product is so much fun that I really don't mind the work. The flowers are actually very simple to make, it's the whole process that makes it so difficult.

HOLY COW! Those cakes are beautiful. What a great job! It's gotta hurt just a little bit when you eat those cakes or watch someone else dig in...
