Karate Tournament

Tobie participated in his very first Karate Tournament. He didn't do so great with the scoring, but I thought what he did was pretty awesome. You could just tell the difference in the focus from the other kids who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. But now that he has seen what the tournament is about he has made a goal to get one of the medals. He wants to go all the way to black belt. I really hope he stays motivated, and I hope I stay motivated to push him when he isn't so motivated.

Mother's Day

So this year I had a rough Mother's Day. I wasn't excited about it and it didn't really feel like a Mother's Day at all. Theo has been in Arizona for over a week now and I miss him so very much. Even though we talked all day on the phone, I really missed my sweet husband that treats me like it is Mother's Day every day. But Heavenly Father was definitely looking out for me and making sure that I wasn't left out on Mother's Day. I had to be at church early to practice in a quartet that I was singing in during sacrament. My HT called me and said that they were ready for church and was wondering if I was needing some help. I was completely flabbergasted. I accepted and his wife and my friend, Cicily, came right over. I was able to get to church in time for the practice that I would never have been able to get to without her. Then as I was sulking later that day on the phone with Theo another friend of mine called in. When I answered she said that she noticed me at church by myself and asked if I would like a piece of chocolate cake. I almost started crying because I was just talking about how I needed some chocolate, but because it was Sunday I wasn't going to go the store. Especially with 3 kids being toted around for one chocolate bar! So I quickly accepted the offer and she was over in 20 minutes with this HUGE piece of 8-layer chocolate cake and two almond roca's (which I love!). It took me two days and some help from Tobie to eat it all. Even though I was expecting a really crummy Mother's Day, I really was blessed by the other mother's around me. I am so thankful for the wonderful blessing of being a mom, and I am especially thankful to these wonderful mother's around me that I lean on so many times!
This story is for Annie since I just read the funny things her kids have said on her blog. She shared a story of her daughter Katie's first encounter with male parts when she was introduced to her younger brother. You will just have to click on her site to read the story. I posted that I was a little embarrassed to tell some of the stories of the things that my kids say, but I am going to share one now. A few months ago Tobie was taking a bath. Theo and I both thought he had been in there for a while, so Theo went in to check on him. As Theo walked in he noticed Tobie pulling on his "sack". Theo yelled, "Tobie, what are you doing?" And Tobie completely oblivious to his fathers tone replies, "Hey Dad, did you know there are marbles in there!" So that is my favorite, yet very intimate funny story of anything any of my kids have said thus far. Kids really are a treasure!

Poor Baby

It always happens that when Theo is away someone, or everyone gets sick. Thankfully he was still home when Emma got really sick this weekend. This was on Sunday morning right when she woke up, before she threw up on Daddy. She is so sad and pathetic looking. She seems to be doing great now though, and hopefully it will remain that way for the remainder of him being gone.

Let Them Eat Cake!

This has been one crazy weekend, but so much fun!!! I got to create these two cakes for some friends of mine. The top one is for Lainie's daughters baptism, which is tomorrow so if she checks my blog before then she will get a sneak preview. The second one was for a co-worker's daughters christening. She is an adorable baby. Lainie's cake is white cake with cookies-n-cream buttercream frosting. Alyson's cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. Lainie's cake didn't take as long as I thought, so that was nice. But oh man, did that tiered cake kick my bootie! Thank heavens Theo was here this weekend. We thought he was going to be deployed last Wednesday, but they changed the plans to tomorrow. So I had his help with the kids so I wasn't pulling my hair out (too much). I can hardly wait for the baptism tomorrow so we can rip into that cookies-n-cream cake!!
