Our First Family Camping Trip

Last weekend we had our first family camping trip. A guy in our ward found this camp site off the Russian River and reserved a bunch of spots and made it a Ward thing. There were 9 families and a lot of kids! We went up on Saturday morning and came back Monday morning. It was so much fun! Theo was so excited that he got the opportunity to buy a big tent. It's amazing how many offers we got from people saying we could use their tent. It was very nice, but Theo was set on getting one for the family. This was a nice roomy 8 person tent. We could fit a queen size mattress, a twin mattress and the pack-n-play. What was cool about this tent is that it had a doggie room on the back. Friday went in there once and we thought she ran out, so we were calling her and she was in the tent in her little room the whole time! I don't know what's up with Tobie's face in this picture.
Emma was relaxing in the best seat there, her pack-n-play.
Friday had a blast. Although she did have to be kept on a leash the whole time, I think she was just excited to be included.
Chef Theo! He really stepped up to the plate and kept the family's belly's full. I tried to offer help, but he insisted that he could handle it, so who am I to argue with that. This is the after the first night and Theo is preparing pancakes, Yummy!!
Miss Miriam on her bike that she insisted on bringing at the last minute. We had the car completely stuffed with camping gear and she started to fuss for her bike. Daddy, being the softee that he is, shoved the bike on top of the food and made it work.
This is the first night, everyone gathered around our camp to roast marshmallows because we had the best fire going.
Some of our fellow campers.
I don't have a lot of pictures of the actual campsite because we were basically sitting in the front yard of an RV park where people lived. It was right off a busy road and we only had a small patch of grass for all of us families to set up on. It was a unique experience to say the least, but the best moments were at night when we all sat around the fire making s'mores and just enjoying each others company. It really made the surrounding area disappear and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely go camping again, and even if the scenery is better you can't beat the company of friends to enjoy it with.

My Little Kindergartener

My handsome Kindergartner!
Waiting patiently for the teacher, Mrs. Fellows, to bring them in.

Today was Tobie's first day of Kindergarten! I was really afraid that I was going to lose it, but when I got there I couldn't stop smiling. Tobie was so excited to be in Kindergarten, it really made it easy for me to stay dry-eyed. In my anxious attitude I got there before the other kids in his class, so Tobie got to be in the front of the line. Way to make a good impression, huh! =) When the teacher came out he waved and said bye a few times and then she took them all in. No backward glances at Mom, my little man walked confidently behind the teacher ready to start his day. This eager young man is ready to take on the world!

Couch Treasure

It's amazing all the things you find under your couch! Little Miss Emma got herself into a pickle by sliding backwards ending up under the couch in our play room. She still hasn't mastered the forward crawl and tends to look like Superman in her enthusiastic attempts. I can't say that I am pushing her to master that skill either. Whenever people comment on how mellow my babies are my response is one of experience from my other two "mellow" babies, "They are just charging up their batteries." Once they hit that mobile stage it's all over for me and my sweet mellow baby. They turn into world explorers, from the deep sea of toilet bowl water, to the desert sands of the litter box. So I will take my mellow-Superman imitating-backward scooting baby for as long as she will stay that way, which I know won't be for that long at all.

I've Been Tagged!

This is such an awesome game! I think Annie tagged me because I haven't posted anything in a while. She is my blog posting Warden. So here is my attempt to think of 7 interesting things about myself.
1.) I was born in Berlin, Germany, and apparently traveled all over Europe, but since we moved back to Mobile, Alabama when I was 3 I don't remember anything.
2.) I used to not be able to pronounce my "r"'s and I was in speech therapy for a couple of years. I think that is why I don't have that infamous southern accent.
3.) I was almost legally blind, so after Theo and I got married I had insurance that covered LASIK surgery and had my eyes fixed. I was 20/20 the next day!
4.) Theo and I had our first date on March 12th, 1999 and got married in the Orlando Temple July 17th, 1999. We just celebrated our 8 year anniversary.
5.) I am very impressionable. I flip back and forth from the Food Network to HGTV to the Travel channel and depending on what channel I am on I want to be a chef, flip a house or travel the world.
6.) I love music and singing. I actually recorded my own demo.
7.) I'm the 5th child in a family of 7. I love having the big family and I hope to have a lot of kids also, although 7 may exceed my goal.

That is my 7 things, I hope it is more entertaining to read then how I perceive it. Sadly I do not know 4 people to tag, but I will tag the two people in my contacts that have not been togged and hope that they read this. So Sarah and Nicole, YOU'RE IT!!!
